Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that Tariq Molson of Perry Street, Buffalo, was sentenced to a prison term of 3 to 6 years as a second felony offender after previously pleading guilty, as charged, to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges. This is the highest charge for which the defendant could have been convicted had he gone to trial.
On August 25, 2013, while at 140 Sanders Street in the City of Buffalo, Molson attacked his girlfriend with a knife causing a significant laceration to her head. No stranger to the criminal justice system, in 1997 Molson was convicted for Manslaughter in the First Degree and released from prison on February 18, 2005.
The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Alicia M. Lilley of DA Sedita’s Domestic Violence Bureau.
