Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 43 year-old Todd Evchich of Buffalo pleaded guilty, as charged, to Robbery in the Third Degree before Erie County Court Judge Michael Pietruszka.  This is the highest charge for which Evchich could have been convicted had he gone to trial.

October 10, 2013, Evchich approached a teller at the M&T Bank at 1205 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Amherst, threatened to blow up the branch with C-4 explosives, and demanded money. Evchich fled with nearly $4,000 in U.S. currency but was quickly apprehended by Amherst police officers.

Evchich, who is a second felony offender, faces 3 ½ to 7 years in state prison when he is sentenced on March 10, 2014 before Judge Pietruszka. The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lauren Nash, who is assigned DA Sedita’s Felony Trial Bureau.
