ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE (9/26/22):

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 64-year-old Anthony “Tony” S. McKegney of Buffalo was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge JaHarr Pridgen on July 8, 2022. He is charged with two counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree (Class “E” felonies).

It is alleged that between April 2, 2022 and April 8, 2022, the defendant placed multiple phone calls and sent e-mails to the victim knowingly in violation of an existing order of protection issued by an Erie County Family Court Judge. The order of protection was issued on March 25, 2022.

McKegney was released on his own recognizance. The case is pending before Buffalo City Court Judge Diane Wray. He is scheduled to return on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for further proceedings.

If convicted of the highest charge, McKegney faces a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jordana C. Gelber of the Buffalo City Court Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
