Buffalo Man Arraigned on Attempted Murder Charges Related to the Shooting of Three Buffalo Police Officers During Pursuit

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 28-year old Kente Bell of Buffalo was arraigned this afternoon at ECMC before Buffalo City Court Judge Peter Savage on three counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree (Class “A-2” felonies) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” felony).

It is alleged that on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the defendant, while involved in a vehicle chase with law enforcement, did shoot three Buffalo Police Officers with an illegal weapon. 

Bell is scheduled to return on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. The defendant was remanded without bail.

If convicted of the charges, Bell faces a maximum 50 years to life in prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Gary Hackbush of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorneys Rebecca Schnirel and Frank Strano of the Major Crimes Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
