Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 24-year-old Shane Casado of Buffalo has been arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Betty Calvo-Torres on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A” felony.
It is alleged that during the late evening on November 27, 2018, the defendant fatally shot 22-year-old Rachael Wierzbicki outside a home on Edson Street in the City of Buffalo.
Casado is scheduled to return on Tuesday, December 11 at 2 p.m. before Buffalo City Court Judge JaHarr Pridgen for a felony hearing. He remains remanded without bail.
If convicted on the charge, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
Colleen Curtin Gable, Chief of the DA’s Homicide Bureau, is prosecuting the case.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
