Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 35-year-old William T. Bergeron of Cheektowaga was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek on an indictment charging him with the following offenses:

  • One count of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (Class “A-II” felony)
  • One count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree (Class “B” felony)
  • One count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class “A” misdemeanor)

It is alleged that between August 15, 2018 and July 13, 2020, the defendant engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct against a child at a location in the Town of Cheektowaga. The defendant, who is a registered sex offender, is also accused of knowingly acting in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental, or moral welfare of the same child victim.

Bergeron is scheduled to return on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. for a pre-trial conference before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges. He was remanded without bail.

DA Flynn commends Detective Tim Turnbull of the Cheektowaga Police Department for his work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Cathleen Roemer of the DA’s Domestic Violence/Special Victims Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
