Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 18-year-old Evelyn Soto of Buffalo has been arraigned before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi on an indictment charging her with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A-1” felony.

It is alleged that on Monday, October 28, 2019, the defendant killed 23-year-old Luis Alicea inside an apartment on Ivy Street in the City of Buffalo by beating him with a metal object. The victim died at the scene.

Soto is scheduled to return on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. She remains held without bail.

If convicted on the charge, Soto faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in the investigation.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
