Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a 16-year-old male from Buffalo was arraigned this afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Robbery in the First Degree (Class “B” felony).

The adolescent offender and an adult defendant are accused of conspiring to rob the victim by luring him to C Street in the City of Buffalo. It is alleged that on March 29, 2021, at approximately 8:13 p.m., the defendant and the adolescent offender robbed the victim of his backpack. It is further alleged that during the course of the robbery, the victim was shot in the leg, chest and side of his body.

The victim, 20-year-old Trenten Jacob Sink of Lockport, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he died from his injuries.

The adolescent offender is scheduled to return on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan. Judge Case remanded the adolescent offender without bail.

The co-defendant, whose name is not being released at this time, remains wanted on an indictment warrant.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the Homicide Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
