Two Men Sentenced for East Side Homicide

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 23-year-old David Hunter and 24-year-old Brandon Jones, both from Buffalo, have been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to a determinate sentence of 20 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. Both defendants were sentenced as second violent felony offenders.

Both defendants pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” violent felony, for their role in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Mychal Brown who was killed on February 21, 2017 in the vicinity of Roma and East Delavan Avenues in the City of Buffalo.

DA Flynn commends Detectives John Paradowski and Mary Evans of the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for his work in the investigation as well as Erie County District Attorney’s Office Confidential Investigator Natalie Perez.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Patrick B. Shanahan of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit.
