Two Charged in Shooting Death on E.North and Jefferson in Buffalo

District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 26 year-old Deshawn Harris of 26 Preston Road, Cheektowaga and 25 year-old Jordan Hicks of  342 Lisbon Avenue, Buffalo, will be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. before Supreme Court Justice Christopher Burns on an indictment charging Harris with Murder in the Second Degree and charging Hicks with Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree. 

It is alleged that on December 28, 2014 on E. North and Jefferson in Buffalo, Harris fatally shot 28 year-old Denell Baker of 47 Cambridge Avenue, Buffalo in a vehicle operated by Hicks.  It is further alleged, that after the shooting, Hicks drove Harris away from the scene, with the victim’s body still inside the vehicle, before dumping it.

If convicted of these crimes, Harris faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years to life and Hicks faces a maximum prison sentence of 3-1/2 to 7 years.

Like all defendants accused of a crime, the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
