Woman With Prior DWI Charged With 2 Counts of Felony DWI

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 32 year old Tammy Karek of 163 Eden Street, Buffalo, will be arraigned at 10:00 this morning before Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller on an indictment charging her with two counts of Feloniously Driving While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting It.

It is alleged that on January 28, 2013, on Potters Road in West Seneca, Karek struck a vehicle driven by 93 year old Carl Dimmig and his 88 year old passenger and wife, Ruth Dimmig, as they were turning into their driveway.   Minor injuries were sustained by both.  West Seneca Police Officer, Matthew Kriegbaum observed the hit and run crash and stopped Karek’s vehicle a few blocks later where she exhibited signs of intoxication.  Karek’s breath alcohol content was 0.15%. 

As alleged in the Special Information, Karek was previously convicted of Driving While Intoxicated on April 26, 2007 and Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol on June 2, 2005.

If convicted of these crimes, Karek faces a maximum prison sentence of 4 years.
