The Erie County Department of Environment and Planning and members of the Erie County Community Climate Change Task Force will host a public information session on Erie County’s commitment to addressing climate change on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The event will take place from 10:30am until noon at the “Ring of Knowledge” presentation area on the first floor inside the Central Library location of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, 1 Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo. No reservations will be required to attend.

“Erie County remains committed to addressing climate change and we continue to actively implement a climate action and sustainability plan for our own operations, we are also working to create a community climate action plan,” said Bonnie Lawrence, deputy commissioner of the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning. “To develop the community-wide plan we need input from the public, which is why we are eager to hear feedback and comments and suggestions from Erie County residents.”

The session will include a public presentation about Erie County’s Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP), the sharing of information about how climate change is impacting our region, and suggestions for how attendees can get involved in addressing how climate change affects where they live.

The project is being funded in part by the Climate Smart Community Grant Program (Title 15 of the Environmental Protection Fund) through the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
