Erie County Legislator Chris Greene recently honored two students, Yolanda Wang and Anish Lakshman, for winning the Youth Engaged Service President’s Award through the Amherst Recreation Center.

The Youth Engaged in Service is a volunteer program where young people ages 12-20 contribute to and participate in their communities, performing service projects with various organizations and positively engaging with children, senior citizens, low-income families and people who are mentally, emotionally or physically challenged.

Yolanda Wang and Anish Lakshman have both experienced personal growth, have gained an awareness of social and community issues and have developed life skills that will prepare them for success in college and their personal and professional lives.

Legislator Greene said, “Yolanda Wang and Anish Lakshman are two shining stars in our community! They both have incredibly bright futures ahead of them. Thank you both for the many wonderful contributions you have made to your school and community! Keep up the excellent work!”
