Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick is pleased to announce that Erie County will receive federal grant funds through the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) to bring a polling site in the City of Tonawanda into compliance with the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA). The site, located at 150 Fillmore Ave. in the City of Tonawanda, was one of five sites approved for grant funds, which also includes the Community Center in the Village of Kenmore.
“In all, Erie County will receive $88,577 to upgrade these sites. Specifically in the City of Tonawanda, the selected polling site will receive more than $10,000 for upgrades that will allow all voters to better access the site,” said Legislator Hardwick. “The Board of Elections has done a good job identify polling sites that need to be upgraded as we work to ensure the voting process is as simple as possible for all.”
Once these polling sites complete the necessary upgrades, they will be reimbursed for the costs through the HAVA.
