Tonawanda couple recognized for their selfless volunteerism and commitment to helping those less fortunate through ministry outreach

Erie County, NY – Legislator Kevin Hardwick presented a proclamation to Sue Ann and Michael Saltarelli during today’s regularly scheduled session of the Erie County Legislature declaring them the Citizens of the Month for April 2019.

As long time residents of the Western New York area, the Saltarellis met while volunteering at Little Portion Friary, a homeless shelter in Buffalo. They married in 1991 and had five children. Recently, they were made grandparents for the first time.

Legislator Hardwick said, “The Saltarellis have had a profound impact on our community. I view their many good works as evidence that there are indeed Saints among us.”

The Saltarellis have long been active in the congregation at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in the City of Tonawanda, directing multiple different faith formation experiences while also expanding “Generations of Faith” and “Young Life” programs for younger parishioners. They both look forward to leading future missionary experiences in El Salvador.
