Visit ECDOH at the Erie County Fair!
Free Health Screenings & Information
ERIE COUNTY, NY— The Erie County Department of Health (“ECDOH”) will be offering a variety of educational and informative activities throughout the twelve-day run of the 177th annual Erie County Fair. The Health Department location is the Marketplace Building on 42nd Street at the Fair Grounds in Hamburg, NY.
“There will be numerous opportunities to learn important health information from our experts on various topics, including lead poisoning prevention, recommended immunizations for all ages and home and family emergency preparedness,” stated Dr. Gale R. Burstein, Erie County Commissioner of Health. “This is a great opportunity for residents to have their questions answered directly by the experts from several programs of the Health Department.”
The ECDOH will offer several interactive educational activities and provide access to healthcare experts available to answer fairgoers’ basic health questions. Free health screenings, offered in collaboration with Catholic Health and the Erie County Cancer Services Program, will also be available.
Screenings will include:
- Bone Density
- Colon Cancer Screening using a FIT test
- Blood Pressure
Educational Information & Experts on hand to answer questions about:
- Lead-Safe and Healthy Housing
- Vector Control (rats, mosquitoes)
- Rabies
- Opioid Epidemic Task Force
- Opiate Task Force Parents Group (8/11, 19 & 20)
- STDs, Condom Use and PrEP
- Basic First Aid and CPR
- Pet Emergency Preparedness
- Epidemiology—tracking the spread of infectious diseases
- Lead Safe and Healthy Housing Initiative
- Fire Safety
- Recreational and Outdoor Safety
- What to Do in Active Shooter Situation
- Family Planning

“Also this year, members of our Erie County Opiate Epidemic Task Force will be on hand every day to explain the help and resources available. I encourage everyone to stop by to learn about all of the services available to Erie County residents,” concluded Burstein.
