Erie County Legislator John Mills recently honored a Town of Eden Resident for her unrelenting support for small businesses.

Michelle Gonter wanted to expand her part-time catering, baking and event business by joining a farmers market in the area. Much to her surprise, Michelle found out the Town of Eden did not have one and the closest market to Eden was at capacity.

With strong support from the community, Gonter will be opening up the Eden Farmers Market in May 2021 with the motto: “Come Grow With Us” and the theme, “Handmade, Homemade, Homegrown.”

To attract more interest in the community and encourage businesses to join, Gonter hosted a fall preview Saturday. During the event, Legislator Mills presented a proclamation to Gonter to honor her investment to the community as well as small businesses.

Legislator Mills said, “Michelle is a champion for small businesses. A farmers market is the perfect one-stop-shop that benefits both the buyer and seller. Thank you, Michelle, for taking a great idea and bringing it to life. I wish you nothing but success in the future.”
