Erie County Legislator John Mills recently honored the new owners of Joylan Theater, Rebecca and Russell Pustulka, on the grand re-opening of the Springville Theater.

Joylan Theater first celebrated its grand opening in 1949, showcasing the Art Deco structure of the era with its glazed brown tile exterior, brightly lit marquee and lavish interior including wood paneling, red leather seats, curved arch curtained-stage, state-of-the-art sound system, air conditioning and concession stand.

Joylan Theater’s most recent owners were Ted and Debby Adams who purchased the theater in 1995 and owned and operated it for 26 years. The theater has been recently purchased by Rebecca and Russell Pustulka who both plan to preserve many traditions of the nearly three-quarter-of-a-century old theaterwhile bringing the theater into the 21st century with updates to its website with online ticket sales and live entertainment in the future.

Legislator Mills said, “Both Rebecca and Russell are committed to the community and preserving a Main Street staple. I look forward to seeing Joylan Theater becoming a place where people can come together for a good time and bring additional business to local shops and restaurants in the Springville area. Thank you to the Pustulka’s for taking on the theater. I wish the two of them nothing but success.”
