The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library will be at the West Shore Market on Sunday, July 18 from 9 am – 2 pm.  Stop by for a walk on the truck and borrow a book or two!

Summer Reading

Children 12 and under pick up your Independent Reading Log and read all summer long and earn prizes!  Our bike raffle is back this year!  Receive a ticket for every three items checked out for a chance to win one of two bikes.  Look for weekly raffles throughout the summer too!


NEW Chromebook & Hotspots

You can now borrow a Chromebook along with hotspot for 1 week!  Those under 17 do need a parent present for the first checkout to sign a waiver. 


 Library by Mail Program!

Library by Mail is a FREE service form the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System that brings library materials to the homebound through the mail!  It is available to any Erie County resident who is either temporarily or permanently unable to go to a physical library.  There is a limit of three items to borrow and materials are checked pout for 6 weeks and are renewable for another 6 weeks.  For information on getting started call 716-858-7156 or email

The library offers free WiFi.  This can be very useful to assist patrons with school and work needs!


Kids Sports Equipment Lending & Play Down Your Fines!

Kid-size soccer, lacrosse and tennis kits are now available to borrow, FREE, with a library card!  Best for ages 5 and up.  Kids under the age of 17 who have library card fines/fees can get them removed when the sports equipment is borrowed.  A parent/caregiver must be present to sign a waiver and for first time checkout of equipment.  Thanks to the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation & the Buffalo & Erie County Library System for this amazing opportunity.


Emergency Broadband Benefit – This is a temporary FCC program to help households struggling to afford internet service during the pandemic.  Receive up to $50/month discount for broadband service and up to $75/month discount for households on qualifying Tribal lands.  There is also a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider.  See if you qualify and Apply, beginning May 12!  Call: 833-511-0311 or visit:


Erie County Heritage Passport

Celebrate Erie County’s Bicentennial year, by picking up a Heritage Passport at any Buffalo & Erie County Public Library.  The Passport will guide you through the county to visit 35 unique museums/historical societies.

T’ai Chi Chih – With Denise Miller

T’ai Chi Chih movements are practiced softly with no impact.  No particular level of physical fitness or equipment required.  Denise Miller is an accredited T’ai Chi Chih teacher who has been sharing this wonderful practice with students for 6 years.  Masks are required during exercise and student will be spaced 6 feet apart.  To register you must call the library at 542-2327 on the Monday before Tuesday’s class.

Read Down Your Fines!!  Children ages 16 and under can read away their fines.  Stop by the library for a Log or download form at:  Include all minutes read and for every 15 minutes of reading, $1 in fines is erased from child’s account.  This program opportunity now runs year round.


Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Share the love of reading with your child! If you live in the Akron School District and have a child under 5 years old, please sign your child up for this great, FREE program.  Each month your child will receive a book in the mail until their 5th birthday.  This wonderful program is funded by Bank on Buffalo (formerly The Bank of Akron) and supported by the Newstead Friends of the Library.  Visit to register today!
