The library offers free WiFi.  This can be very useful to assist patrons with school and work needs!

All Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries are now Fine Free!  Overdue fees are no longer charged.  Fees are collected for damaged and lost items.

NEW PROGRAM! Bookmark Buddies – Reading with Seniors

Bookmark Buddies is a new program hosted by the Akron Newstead Senior Center and the Newstead Public Library that links Seniors with children from Akron Elementary.   Children will be invited by the Elementary school to participate and will benefit from the one to one reading opportunity.  We are looking for volunteers to be a part of this great program!  Bookmark Buddies will meet at the library on Wednesdays from 2:45 – 4 pm.  Program is expected to begin late November.  Please call the library for more information and to sign up.

Chromebook & Hotspots

You can now borrow a Chromebook along with hotspot for 1 week!  Those under 17 do need a parent present for the first checkout to sign a waiver. 

Library by Mail Program!

Library by Mail is a FREE service form the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System that brings library materials to the homebound through the mail!  It is available to any Erie County resident who is either temporarily or permanently unable to go to a physical library.  There is a limit of three items to borrow and materials are checked pout for 6 weeks and are renewable for another 6 weeks.  For information on getting started call 716-858-7156 or email

Light Up Akron – Library Events

Library will be open until 7 pm for this event!  Children’s crafts, cookies and hot apple cider available all day!  The Akron High School String Quartet will be playing between 1 and 3 pm.  Defiant Monkey Improv will be performing an improv family show at 6 pm.

Oragami Book Making with WNY Book Arts Center

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Share the love of reading with your child!
