Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the following DWI arrests from this past weekend.

April 1, 11:05 p.m.; Town of Brant – Deputy Barner responded to calls about an intoxicated driver.  When the vehicle was located, two individuals were questioned and the Deputy determined that Collin Davis, 25 of Knoxville, Tennessee, was the operator.  Davis was administered standard field sobriety test; after failing the field sobriety test, Davis was arrested for DWI and was transported to the North Collins Substation for further testing.  A chemical test indicated that Davis was twice the legal blood alcohol limit.  The defendant was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.

April 3, 1:56 a.m.; Town of Grand Island – a traffic stop was performed on a vehicle that failed to stop at an intersection along Homeland Drive.  While talking with the operator, Deputy Zamorek observed the individual appeared intoxicated.  The operator, Justin Brock, 40 of Grand Island, refused to submit to a breath test and subsequently was arrested and charged with DWI, refusal to take a breath test, aggravated unlicensed operation and failing to stop.  Brock was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and was held on $500.00 bail.

April 3, 6:38 a.m.; Town of Grand Island – Deputy Zamorek responded to an accident where a vehicle struck a fire hydrant at Park Lane and Ransom Road.  The Deputy’s investigation resulted in a DWI arrest.  David Campuzano, 23 of Grand Island, was also charged with speeding, failing to keep right, unsafe lane change, and operating a vehicle without insurance.  Campuzano was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to be in Grand Island court on April 27.

April 3, 9:42 p.m.; Town of Brant – Deputy Christian responded to calls about an erratic driver on Route 20.  The vehicle was located in a business’ parking lot and the Deputy spoke with the operator.  While speaking with the individual, the Deputy observed constricted pupils, poor coordination, and slurred speech.  The Deputy administered field sobriety tests which Jason Suchocki, 36 of Cheektowaga, failed.  An investigation of the operator’s license revealed Suchocki had a restricted license and was required to operate a vehicle with an interlock device.

The operator was transported to Erie County Medical Center where Deputy Biegasiewicz, a Drug Recognition Expert, evaluated Suchocki and determined he was impaired by drugs.  Subsequent to the evaluation, Suchocki was arrest and charged with a felony DWI, due to a previous conviction, failure to have a mandated interlock device, operating a vehicle without insurance, and two other traffic infractions. 

The defendant was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $500.00 bail.
