Deputies Respond to A Two Vehicle Fatal Crash on Route 20

Operator of One of the Vehicles Pronounced Dead at the Scene

 

Buffalo, NY – Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports District 5 Deputies and the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) are investigating a fatal crash on Route 20 on the Seneca Nation of Indians territory.

 

Calls to dispatchers came in at 3:08 P.M., February 24, and when Deputies arrived they observed a vehicle lodged under a trailer towed by a pickup truck.

 

As of 5:00 P.M., first responders were attempting to extricate the driver of the vehicle that collided into the back of the trailer.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and an identification has not been made.

 

Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Southwestern Boulevard and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

 

Route 20 in both directions is close (at the time of this release) in both directions and will remain closed while CIU continues its investigation.

 

No charges have been filed and the operator of the struck vehicle was taken to Lake Shore Hospital for evaluation; no reports of injuries at this time.
