ECSO also Training 8 Recruits from Surrounding Offices 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announced today the Erie County Sheriff Jail Management Division started a Basic Corrections Academy for newly hired Deputies and Corrections Officers. 

The academy started on October 2, at the Erie Community College South Campus. Recruits will take part in a 13-week program that includes defensive tactics instruction, jail management training as well as weapons and Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray) training. 

Erie County Sheriff’s Office hosts the academy, and many surrounding Sheriff Offices utilize this program to train their new employees.  This academy includes twenty-nine Erie County recruits, three Cattaraugus County recruits, three recruits from the Wyoming Sheriff’s Office, and two recruits from Orleans County.
