Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently announced primetime funding for summer youth programs throughout Erie County. Primetime funding is made possible through New York State Aid dollars and is given to qualifying organizations that provide recreational activities in an adult supervised environment for kids during summer recess months.

Some countywide organizations receiving funding include:

  • Girl Scouts of WNY, $8,930
  • Greater Niagara Frontier Council/Boy Scouts, 13,395
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension, $8,930
  • YMCA Western NY, $13395
  • The Salvation Army, $10,046
  • Native American Community Services, $6,681

Legislator Todaro said, “Funding like this is key. Kids need stability in their lives and summer youth programs provide just that. This last year has been difficult on children due to the back and forth of virtual learning—it is time to get back to ‘normal’ and have them take part in physical as well as social activities during the summer months.”
