Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently honored the owners of Dark Forest Chocolate Makers, Dan and Joanne Sundell, for receiving national recognition for their quality chocolate.

The chocolate shop on West Main Street in Lancaster opened its doors back in 2015 and are now a finalist in the Good Food awards in 2020 with their selected product—Milk with Nibs Chocolate Bar. This isn’t the first time for such an honor; the shop was also recognized for this prestigious award back in 2017 and 2019.

Dark Forest Chocolate Makers crafts soy-free, nut-free, gluten-free and vegan chocolate from organic beans and sugar—the shop also makes their chocolate in small batches using limited ingredients to bring out the unique flavors of each type.

Legislator Todaro said, “Congratulations to Dan and Joanne on a job well done and for running such a successful business. Your shop is a staple in Lancaster as the go-to spot for a sweet, tasty treat! I wish you nothing but success in the years to come.”
