To qualify for recording in Erie County, the foreign judgment (defined in CPLR §5401) can not have been obtained by default in appearance or by confession of judgment.
A copy of the foreign judgment must be filed within 90 days of its authentication. (CPLR §5402)
Authentication: certification by the clerk of the court having legal custody of the record, with the seal affixed (except where the copy is used in the same court) (CPLR §5402)
