Video Camcorder Surveillance Techniques Training

March 8 - 10, 2016

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Office of Public Safety is pleased to announce multiple dates for a three day "Video Camcorder Surveillance Techniques Training" designed for, but not limited to, Narcotics Investigators, Gang Detectives, Auto Theft Investigators, Intelligence Unit Members, Internal Affairs Detectives, Surveillance Teams, Encon Officers, Forest Rangers and SWAT members.

This 3-day class is based on the presumption that praticipants have had no previous training in how to shoot evidence-grade surveillance video.  The class is centered on camcorders because they are inexpensive and with the proper training, easy to use.  Hands-on exercises, beginning the first day of class and continuing throughout the course, will give participants experience shooting surveillance video. The course also covers the use of long-range lenses in conjunction with camcorders, the use of night scopes and some body-worn covert video surveillance systems.  Training on the second day will take place into the evening so students can practice techniques in the dark.

The training will be presented by Wadi Sawabini.  Since 1991, Mr. Sawabini has taught thousands of law enforcement professionals how to shoot evidence-grade video.  Participants in previous clases have included members of the ATF, Border Patrol, DEA, FBI, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Korean National Police and thousands of local and state law enfocement agencies. Mr. Sawabini is the leading national authority on video camcorder surveillance techniques for law enforcement, a highly-qualified instructor and expert in the field of video surveillance.

Class on days 1 & 3 of this trianing will be held from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.  Class on day 2 of this training will be held from 2:00 PM -10:00 PM.  When registering an officer, please verify the officer will be able to attend the evening training session as students will be required to demonstrate "night filming" skills during this time in order to successfully complete the class.
