Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 17-year-old Lawren Goins of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to 25 years in state prison for the double shooting of two 16-year-olds.
In November of 2017, Goins pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree and one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.
On October 13, 2016, in the vicinity of Leroy Avenue and Hill St. in Buffalo, the defendant, who was 16-years-old at the time, shot and killed 16-year-old Kristian Piazza and shot and injured then16-year-old Terrell Lockett of Buffalo.
DA Flynn credits the thorough investigative work of the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad, including Detectives Daniel Redmond, John Garcia and Antonio Borrelli.
Assistant District Attorney Michael D. Smith of the DA’s Homicide Bureau prosecuted the case.
