Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 29-year-old Jeffrey D. Lewis of Alabama was sentenced on Friday morning by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case to a determinate sentence of 3 ½ years in prison followed by 2 ½ years of post-release supervision.
On September 9, 2018, the defendant was arrested after an investigation determined that he was purchasing guns in Alabama and transporting the weapons to Buffalo. The defendant was found in possession of four semi-automatic pistols after police executed a search warrant of his vehicle during a traffic stop on Hempstead Avenue.
Lewis pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” felony, on October 17, 2019. He pleaded guilty to the highest charge in the indictment against him.
DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their work on the case.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian D. Langenfeld of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit.
