Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 27-year-old Edward Kuebler of the Town of Tonawanda has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Serious Physical Injury in connection with a hit-and-run crash on Grand Island.
It is alleged that on June 13, 2017, the defendant was driving on East River Road when he struck a woman walking on the side of the road and then fled the scene.
The victim, 53-year-old Dana Papaj of Grand Island, was seriously injured and continues to recover at ECMC.
DA Flynn commends the New York State Police Investigators in Clarence for their outstanding work.
The defendant will be arraigned later today in Grand Island Town Court. If convicted of the charge, he faces up to four years in prison.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Chief Kelley A. Omel of the DA’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau is prosecuting the case.
