Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 25-year-old Dydisci Martin of Amherst has been arraigned by Acting Erie County Court Judge James McLeod on an indictment charging him with Murder in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on July 28, 2017, the defendant fatally shot his roommate’s boyfriend, 48-year-old Leon “Bruno” Nelson, Jr. of Buffalo, and hid the body in the basement of the home on May Street in the City of Buffalo.

The defendant was remanded without bail.

If convicted on the charge, Martin faces 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the thorough investigative work by the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad, including Det. Joy Jermain, Det. Patty Wrest and Det. Sgt. Carl Lundin.

Assistant District Attorney Michael D. Smith of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Brian D. Langenfeld of the DA's Felony Trials Bureau are prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
