Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 19-year-old Damion Hill of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to an indeterminate sentence of 1-3 years in prison.

The defendant admitted that on May 17, 2018, at approximately 5 a.m., he burglarized a used car dealership on South Park Avenue in the City of Buffalo by throwing a rock through the front door, climbing inside and stealing keys from the counter. The defendant and outstanding co-defendant used the keys to steal two vehicles from the lot, a white Chevy sedan and a red Ford truck.

Buffalo Police officers observed the defendant operating the stolen Ford truck on May 21, but he was able to evade police.

On June 6, officers witnessed the defendant operating another stolen vehicle, which was taken from a home on Shenandoah Road in the City of Buffalo. The defendant attempted to flee again, but was arrested.

Hill, who has a history of auto theft-related misdemeanor offenses, pleaded guilty to one count of Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class “D” felony, one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree, a Class “A” misdemeanor.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work by Detectives Meg Serafini and Natasha Anderson of the Buffalo Police Department as well as Officer Lamont Rutherford II who recognized and apprehended the suspect.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Louis C. Mussari of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.
