Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 22-year-old Arthur Jordan of Buffalo has pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

Jordan was in possession of an illegal weapon when officers approached him to ask about an alleged threat he made to kill police officers on Facebook. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has charged Jordan with Interstate Communication of Threat to Injure.

“The defendant pleaded to the highest weapons charge he could face,” says acting DA Flaherty. “As in all gun cases, especially one involving threats to police, we would never agree to anything less.”

Jordan faces a mandatory minimum of 3 ½ years in prison up to 15 years when he is sentenced October 27, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. by Justice Wolfgang. He was remanded to jail without bail.

Acting DA Flaherty is asking for the maximum prison sentence and is enlisting the help of Buffalo Police to petition Justice Wolfgang for the most severe punishment.

“Anyone who threatens the lives of the brave officers who protect us and put their lives on the line every day is going to pay the stiffest price,” says Flaherty. “We have zero tolerance for this behavior in our community.”
