Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 35-year-old Joseph Aronica pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of Arson in the Second Degree and two counts of Arson in the Fourth Degree. The defendant pleaded guilty to all of the charges in the indictment.
On November 28, 2017, the defendant set a fire on the second floor of his East Delavan Avenue home. The fire spread to neighboring homes and displaced several residents.
Aronica faces a maximum of 8 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, July 27 at 9:30 a.m.
DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Buffalo Fire Marshal Commander James Otwell and Fire Investigator Sean McKinnie.
Assistant District Attorney Nathanael C. Kapperman of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau and Paul J. Glascott, Chief of the DA’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau, prosecuted the case.
