Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 25-year-old Roberto Leon of Buffalo has been arraigned before Acting Erie County Court Judge James A. W. McLeod on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on November 28, 2017, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the defendant fatally shot 25-year-old Luis Rivera of Buffalo on Center Lane in Buffalo’s Riverside neighborhood.

The defendant was remanded without bail.

If convicted on all charges, Leon faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad, including Det. Patricia Wrest and Det. Sgt. Carl Lundin.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge III of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
