Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 28-year-old Bryam Bassett of Buffalo has been arraigned before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio on an indictment charging him with two counts of Predatory Sexual Assault, Class “A-II” felonies, and two counts of Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, Class “E” felonies.
It is alleged that starting on Monday, May 5, 2019, defendant unlawfully restrained the victim over a three day period inside a residence and during that time period engaged in a pattern of physical and sexual abuse.
Bassett is scheduled to return on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. He remains remanded without bail.
If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bethany A. Solek of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
