Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 27-year-old Frank Redd of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to 1 year in prison. Also, a 9 year order of protection was issued for the victim.
On January 5, 2018, a 7-month-old infant was taken to Oishei Children’s Hospital to be treated for life-threatening brain injuries after being left in the care of the defendant.
The child is still recovering from his injuries.
On April 23, 2018, Redd pleaded guilty, as charged, to one count of Reckless Assault of a Child. This is the highest charge for which he could have been convicted if the matter had gone to trial.
DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Detective Mark Costantino and Detective Jeffrey Banes of the Buffalo Police Department.
Rosanne Johnson, Chief of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau, prosecuted the case.
