Buffalo Man Sentenced for Fatally Shooting Victim in City's Seneca Babcock Neighborhood

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 31-year-old Steven L. Tyler of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to 7 ½ to 15 years in prison.

On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at approximately 8:20 p.m., the defendant shot the victim outside of a residence on Keppel Street in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 30-year-old Bashir Ingram, died at the scene.  

Tyler pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the Second Degree (Class “C” felony) on December 8, 2022.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Ashley M. Morgan of the Felony Trials Bureau.
