Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 37-year-old Ronald Ragin of Buffalo was sentenced by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to four years in prison.

On July 16, 2017, Buffalo Police officers pulled over the defendant as he was driving on West Ferry Avenue in the City of Buffalo because his passenger was not wearing her seat belt. Officers smelled marijuana emanating from the vehicle and a smoldering marijuana cigarette was visible in the ash tray. A search of the vehicle revealed that Ragin was transporting cocaine, heroin and marijuana, which were all packaged for sale. Also, more than $22,000 in cash was found inside the vehicle.

The defendant posted bail shortly after his arrest. Ragin was arrested a second time on August 7, 2017 for possession of fourteen bags of crack cocaine, which were packaged for sale.

Assistant District Attorney Justin T. Wallens of the DA’s Narcotics Unit prosecuted the case.
