Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 40-year-old Erika Brown of 114 15th Street in Buffalo has been sentenced to three years in jail and two years post-release supervision by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case.
On February 26, 2016, Buffalo police arrested Brown and her 23-year-old son, Erik Arias after executing a search warrant on their home and recovering 970 baggies of heroin.
In May, Brown and her son pleaded guilty to felony heroin possession and sale charges.
Arias is also facing a violent assault charge after he and another inmate at the Correctional Facility in Alden attacked another inmate. He faces a maximum of seven years in prison, if convicted of that charge. As are all accused of a crime, the defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Arias faces up to 12 years in prison on the drug charges. He will be back in court July 6, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Case.
Acting DA Flaherty commends the investigative work of Buffalo Police Narcotics Detectives John Garcia and Shawn Adams.
The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney John P. Gerken, Jr., who is assigned to Acting DA Flaherty’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit.
