Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 19-year-old Kyle Lovines of Buffalo has been arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Craig D. Hannah on Murder in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that at approximately 7:10 p.m. on May 9, 2018, the defendant fatally shot 23-year-old Chaz Carter on Goodyear Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

The defendant remains remanded without bail. He is scheduled to return on Monday, June 25 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad, including Detective Brendan Kiefer.

Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the DA’s Homicide Bureau is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
