Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr. announces that 24 year old Christopher Perkins a/k/a “Gotti” of 70 Euclid, Cheektowaga was sentenced to 40 years to life for the murder of two men and the attempted murder of another by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case.
On August 23, 2014 in the vicinity of May and Doat Streets in the City of Buffalo, Perkins fired numerous shots killing 31 year old Benjamin Gerald of Roebling Avenue, Buffalo and 30 year old Deverin White of Dupont Street, Buffalo and attempted to kill another person. Perkins fled to Oklahoma where he was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Felony Task Force.
In March of 2016, Perkins was convicted of two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree following a non-jury trial before Judge Case.
Acting DA Flaherty commends the investigative work by Detective Sergeant Carl Lundin, Detective Scott Malec and Detective Joy Jermain of the Buffalo Homicide Squad, Detective James Maroney of the Buffalo Police Crime Scene Unit and Detective William Cooley and Sr. Investigator Kevin Kendall both of the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Felony Task Force.
Homicide Bureau Chief Colleen Curtin Gable and Assistant District Attorney Ashley Morgan prosecuted the case.
