Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 43-year-old Jonathan C. McKibben of Clarence was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to three years of probation.

On July 30, 2020, at approximately 10:29 a.m., the defendant attacked his elderly step-father inside of a home on Manor Wood Lane in the Town of Clarence. The defendant stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife. The victim was taken to ECMC where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Judge Bargnesi found McKibben guilty of one count of Assault in the Third Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor), convicting the defendant of the lesser included offense after a one-day bench trial that occurred on Monday, February 7, 2022. The defendant was acquitted of the felony assault and burglary charges.

DA Flynn commends the Erie County Sheriff’s Office for their work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney David M. Zak of the Felony Trials Bureau.
