Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 18-year-old Zachery Aroix of Clarence was sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to a determinate sentence of 5 years in prison followed by 2 ½ years of post-release supervision.

On March 31, 2017, Aroix and two other defendants lured the victim to a construction site off of Gentwood Drive in the Town of Clarence in attempt to rob him at gunpoint. When the victim attempted to flee, Aroix shot the victim in the leg with a .22 rifle.

In February, defendant pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.

DA Flynn commends the thorough investigative work by Detective Jon Hannah, Detective Sergeant Jack Graham and Detective Cully Ferrick of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant District Attorney Danielle D’Abate of the Training/Special Projects Bureau prosecuted the case.
