Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 32-year-old Corey Bell of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek on an indictment charging him with one count of count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony).

It is alleged that on April 24, 2021, at approximately 6:09 p.m., the defendant, while acting in concert with co-defendant Daiquin Gray, participated in the robbery and shooting death of 38-year-old Marcques Robinson of Buffalo. The incident occurred outside of a store on East Delavan Avenue and Grider Street in the City of Buffalo as the victim was pumping gas into his vehicle.

The co-defendant, Daiquin Gray, is accused of intentionally firing multiple shots at the victim during the robbery. The victim attempted to run from the attack, but collapsed nearby. When the victim fell to the ground, Gray allegedly stole the victim’s gold chain from his neck. Robinson died from his injuries at the scene.

Bell is scheduled to return on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for an initial appearance before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller. He was held without bail.

If convicted of the charge, Bell faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.

Gray was arraigned on the indictment on December 8, 2021. He is scheduled to return before Justice Boller on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. for motions. He remains held without bail. If convicted of all charges, Gray faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.

DA Flynn commends Detective Mark Costantino, Officer Nick Melligan and Officer Dan Dustin of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation. Flynn also commends Task Force Officer Lou Cardona and the US Marshals Service for their work in locating and apprehending the defendant yesterday in Niagara Falls.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan D. Haggerty of the Homicide Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
