Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 46-year-old Lamarr Scott of Buffalo has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to an indeterminate sentence of 8 1/3 to 25 years in prison.

The defendant, who confessed hours after the crime occurred, admitted to firing a semi-automatic gun on the evening of August 10, 1991 near Louie’s Hot Dog restaurant on the corner of Bailey and East Delavan Avenues in the City of Buffalo. The shooting killed 17-year-old Torriano Jackson. The victim’s brother, Aaron Jackson, and a bystander were injured by gunfire.

Despite the defendant’s confession, another man, Valentino Dixon, was convicted of the crime.

After conducting a thorough investigation, DA Flynn consented to an order to vacate the murder, attempted murder and assault convictions against Dixon.

On September 19, 2018, Scott pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, one count of Assault in the First Degree and one count of Reckless Assault in the Third Degree.

Dixon, who remains convicted on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree for his involvement in the crime, was released on September 19, 2018 after serving more than 27 years in prison.
