Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 25-year-old Salad Osman of Buffalo was virtually sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek to a determinate sentence of 5 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. He was sentenced today as a second violent felony offender.

The defendant attempted to unlawfully enter a home on West Avenue in the City of Buffalo on November 26, 2015. He cut himself while climbing through a broken window. The blood evidence was collected and the defendant was linked to the crime through DNA analysis.

Osman pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) on October 30, 2020. 

Osman was also sentenced today in a separate case. The defendant was the passenger of a vehicle that was stopped by Buffalo Police officers who were investigating a shooting on Tonawanda Street on July 22, 2019. Three guns were found in the vehicle. One of the guns was linked to the defendant through DNA analysis. He pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) on October 30, 2020. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision, which will run concurrent to his sentence in the burglary case.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department and the Erie County Central Police Services Laboratory for their work in these investigations.
