Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 47-year-old Montu Lighten of Cheektowaga has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Mark A. Montour to a determinate sentence of 2 years in prison.

On two separate occasions, the defendant violated an order of protection issued on behalf of the victim in a domestic violence case. The defendant placed phone calls to the victim from jail on November 7, 2018 and November 18, 2018.

In June 2019, Judge Montour found Lighten guilty of two counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, Class “A” misdemeanor charges, following a two-day bench trial.

A final five-year no-contact order of protection was issue on behalf of the victim and her children.

DA Flynn commends Deputy John Healy of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and Officer Bryan Lavey of the City of Tonawanda Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Gina M. Gramaglia of the DA’s Domestic Violence Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Justin H. Caldwell of the DA’s City Court Bureau.
