Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 34-year-old Mark Hicks of North Tonawanda pleaded guilty, as charged, before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek to one count of Leaving the Scene of a Serious Physical Injury Incident without Reporting, an “E” felony.
On Friday, February 16, 2018, at approximately 5:50 p.m., the defendant admitted that he was driving a pickup truck on Vulcan Street near Rosedale Street in the Town of Tonawanda when he struck a 56-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair, and left the scene. The victim spent several weeks at ECMC to be treated for injuries to his head and chest.
Hicks faces a maximum of 4 years in jail when he is sentenced on Thursday, October 11 at 9:30 a.m. He remains in custody on $10,000 cash or $25,000 bond.
District Attorney Flynn commends the investigative work of DA’s Office Investigators Charles Danzi and Mike Wright as well as Officer Brian Ienco and Detective Nikolaos Salonikis of the Town of Tonawanda Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christopher M. McCarthy of the DA’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
