Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 30-year-old Gregory Covington of 2650 Seneca Street in West Seneca has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia to 7 years in prison with five years post-release supervision after selling heroin and possessing an illegal gun. 

In January, Covington pleaded guilty to two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3^rd Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2^nd Degree. 

Covington was the subject of an investigation by the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team.  On April 22^nd and April 29^th of 2016, Covington sold a dangerous mixture of heroin, cocaine and fentanyl to an undercover state trooper.  

On May 5^th of 2016, the State Police arrested Covington and executed a search warrant on his vehicle.  They recovered a loaded .380 semi-automatic pistol underneath the gear shifter plate in the vehicle.  

DA Flynn commends New York State Police for their superior investigative work. 

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys John P. Gerken, Jr. and Lauren Nash, who are assigned to DA Flynn’s newly-formed Narcotics Bureau.
