Drunk Driver Heading to Jail for Hitting Pedestrian in Clarence

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 51-year-old Michael Eddo of Williamsville has been sentenced by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to one year in jail.

On February 16, 2019, at approximately 1:20 a.m., the defendant was driving, while under the influence of alcohol, on Harris Hill Road near Main Street in the Town of Clarence when he hit a pedestrian who was walking along the side of the road. The defendant registered a 0.19% BAC at the time of the crash.

The 51-year-old pedestrian was taken to ECMC where he remained for more than a month. He suffered multiple serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. He continues to recover from those injuries.

Eddo pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and one count of Driving While Intoxicated, both Class “A” misdemeanors.

DA Flynn commends the New York State Police for their work on the case.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Paul C. Glascott of the DA’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
